Today Google announced a free, turn-by-turn GPS navigation application called Google Maps Navigation that makes its debut within the new Google Android 2.0 platform. The GPS app is integrated with Google Maps, provides turn-by-turn navigation and is completely free. Everybody’s favorite search giant has released a tour du force today with three killer announcements. First up is the official announcement of the “Droid” Android phone on Verizon with Android OS 2.0. On November 6th Verizon Wireless will be selling the Motorola Droid. To go for $199.99 on a 2-year deal, the DROID is one hell of a steal considering that its specs include a 3.7″ WVGA capacitive display, sliding QWERTY keypad, 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash, 720×480 video

While today might go down as the day the Droid took over, it’s just one handset.
